Teaching Approach
My path as a first-generation, formerly undocumented student exposed me to a diverse set of challenges across higher education, which in turn, have inspired three guiding principles in my teaching philosophy. First, I emphasize the importance of academic engagement and critical reflection by connecting theoretical concepts to the real world and practice. Second, I encourage data-driven research designs to help students tackle problems with insight that extends beyond academia. Third, I create a respectful and approachable classroom environment where students take intellectual risks without ridicule or backlash.
